You can find us at C-57 on Road No. 5 in the Vishwakarma Industrial Area. Being a 100% export-oriented unit means we have a lot of specific rules to follow, so the office is usually buried in folders and compliance documents. The VKI area is always humming with noise. There’s the constant sound of metal hitting metal and engines idling. Our facility is a functional space, mostly dedicated to storage and the final checks before things go into containers. The roof is corrugated metal, so you can really hear the rain when it hits during the monsoon season. We don't have much in the way of air conditioning, just a few sturdy ceiling fans that move the air around. Our desks are pushed up against the windows so we can see who’s coming into the yard. It’s a very busy environment, and things can get a bit messy when we’re in the middle of a big production run. We keep a kettle in the corner for when the day gets long. Most of the people working here live nearby, so there’s a lot of talk about local news during the breaks. We don't put on any airs; it’s just a factory setting where we focus on getting the goods ready for the docks. The floor is concrete and stained from years of work, but that’s just how it is in this part of town. We keep going until the last truck is loaded.
