Bala Ji Provision & General Store

Bala Ji Provision & General Store is over at 31 Satsai Collage Road in Jawahar Nagar. Since we are near the college, we see a lot of students coming in for snacks or stationery items. Then there are the families living nearby who stop by for their daily groceries. It’s a mix of everything, really. The shop isn't very big, so we have to stack things all the way up to the ceiling. Sometimes it’s a bit of a struggle to reach the top shelf when someone wants a specific brand of soap. We don't really have a set schedule for deliveries; they just show up when the truck gets here. We spend a lot of our time unpacking crates and making sure nothing has expired. It’s a lot of physical work, especially when the weather gets hot. We have a small cooler for drinks that hums quite loudly, but it keeps the sodas cold. We don't use any fancy marketing tricks. People just know we are here on the corner. Sometimes we forget to update the prices on the shelf right away, but we always tell the customer the correct amount at the counter. It’s an honest way to spend the day, and we like the people who come in. We’ve been at this spot for years and it feels like home to us now. We keep the doors open even when it's raining hard. It's just what we do to keep things going.
