Bala Dhar Gangasahai

Our business is located at 390 in the Anaj Mandi area near Ghat Gate. The name Bala Dhar Gangasahai has been around for a few generations. We deal in grains and pulses, which is what the mandi is all about. Every morning starts very early here. The trucks come in with sacks from the farms, and there’s a lot of shouting and hauling. It’s a traditional way of doing business. We spend our time checking the quality of the grain and talking to the traders. The air is always full of the smell of wheat and spices. Ghat Gate is a historic part of the city, and the streets are quite narrow. It’s a struggle sometimes to get the bigger loads moved, but we’ve been doing it so long it’s just second nature. Our office is a simple room with a couple of wooden benches and a lot of ledgers. We still write things down by hand mostly. It’s a noisy, dusty, but honest life. We value the relationships we’ve built over decades with the farmers and the local buyers. There’s no corporate fluff here. Just bags of grain and a fair price. If you come to the mandi, you’ll see us right in the thick of it. We just keep our heads down and get the work done before the heat of the afternoon hits the market. It is a lot of effort but it feels good to stay traditional.
