Agarwal Stores

Agarwal Stores has been sitting here at number 67 in Ram Nagar for a long time. We are tucked away behind the Chambal Power House in Sodala. It is a quiet street compared to the main roads of Jaipur. People around here know where to find us. We mostly stock daily essentials that families need. The shop is not very big, so we have to stack things carefully. I spend a lot of time checking the inventory and talking to the delivery guys. Sometimes the deliveries are late, which can be a bit annoying. We open the shutters early in the morning when the air is still cool. My cousin works with me most days. We have a small stool behind the counter where we take turns sitting. Most of our customers live right in the nearby lanes. They come in for milk or sugar or pulses. We have been part of this community since I can remember. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but we are usually too busy to get around to it. It is just a standard neighborhood shop. We know which neighbors like which tea and who prefers their soap in a particular scent. We do not have a website or anything like that. We just open up and wait for people to come by. It is a routine that works for us and the people who live nearby.
