Abdul Kalam

Located at 172 Subhash Chowk, we are right in the heart of Naykon Ka Mohalla. This is one of those neighborhoods where everyone knows everyone else’s business. It is crowded, the lanes are narrow, and there is always something happening outside the front door. Abdul Kalam is the name on the door, and this is where we do our daily work. It is not a modern office building. It is an old structure with high ceilings and thick walls that keep it somewhat cool in the summer heat. We hear the sounds of the market all day long—vendors shouting, bells ringing, and the constant hum of motorcycles navigating the tight turns. We have a small bench outside where we sometimes sit to catch a breath of air. Inside, it is mostly quiet work. We have our routine every single day. We open up, sweep the floor, and then settle into the tasks for the day. There is no big marketing department here. We just do our jobs and help the locals who come by with their questions. The walls are a bit yellowed, and the floor is worn down in the spots where we walk the most. It feels like home because we spend so much of our life here. It is just a small part of the daily life in Subhash Chowk, and we have been part of it for a long time.
