New Chourasia Hotel

Our place, New Chourasia Hotel, is Shop No. 8 at the New Bus Stand in Jabalpur City. We are right besides the Nagar Nigam Karm Shala. Being at a bus stand means there is never really a quiet moment. There are always buses backing up or horns honking. We get people from all over who are just waiting for their next connection. I’ve been running this shop for years now. It is a small space, but we have everything we need in here. The 482002 area is always dusty because of the construction and the buses. I spend a lot of time wiping down the counters. We start very early because the first buses go out before the sun is even up properly. Sometimes I'm half asleep when I make the first pot of tea. My neighbors in the other shops are good people; we look out for each other. It’s a busy life and you don't get many days off. We don't bother with fancy decorations or anything like that. People just want a seat and something to eat or drink while they wait. The Nagar Nigam workers often come over when they are on their breaks. It is a simple shop in a very busy part of Jabalpur. We just keep going day after day, year after year.
