We are located in Gauharpura, running things under the name Yadunath Singh Farmer Producer Company Limited. Mahesh Chandra, who is the son of Sri Yadunath Singh, is the one who looks after the place. This whole thing started because we wanted to keep the family name going through the work we do with the land. It’s a community effort, really. We have a lot of farmers who are part of this now. We spend our mornings checking the progress of what’s growing in the fields around Gauharpura. It’s not a glamorous job. There is a lot of mud, sweat, and worrying about the monsoon. We don't have fancy advertisements or a PR person. We just have our hands and the tools we use. Sometimes we sit around and discuss the cost of urea or why the wheat isn't looking as green as it should. It is just everyday talk for us. We try to help the smaller farmers get a better price when it’s time to sell. It’s about making sure nobody gets left behind. The office is just a simple space where we keep the registers and the scales. We’re usually there if someone needs to talk about their harvest. It’s a slow pace of life compared to the cities, but we prefer it that way. We just keep working and hope for a good season every year. If the harvest is good, we all share in that little bit of relief.
