We are set up at No. 58 Fb in Scheme No. 78. It’s an area with a lot of new construction and other workshops nearby. Our building is mostly a big workshop floor with a small office partitioned off in the corner for the paperwork. There’s always the smell of hot metal and the bright flash of welding going on throughout the day. We wear our safety gear and just get through the various projects we have on the board. Most of our work is for other local businesses that need specific parts made or fixed. It’s hard, dirty work, and our hands are usually covered in grease by noon. We have some heavy machines that have seen better days, but they still work just fine if you know how to handle them properly. We aren't a big corporation with hundreds of employees. There are just a few of us who really know the trade. We don't do much talking; we just listen to what the customer wants and then start cutting or joining the metal. Sometimes a job takes a lot longer than we thought because the metal is stubborn or the design is tricky. We stay until it’s finished though. Being in Scheme No. 78 is handy because we are close to our main suppliers. We just keep our heads down and do the engineering work that comes our way. It's a solid way to make a living.
