You can find us at No. 214 in the M T Cloth Market, inside Dammani Bhavan. The market is always crowded and full of life, which keeps us on our toes. We’ve been in this spot for quite a while now. We sell different kinds of textiles and fabrics to whoever needs them. Our space is packed from floor to ceiling with rolls of cloth of every color you can imagine. It smells like cotton and dye in here, which is a smell I’ve grown to like over the years. We don’t have much room for anything other than the stock itself. There’s a small desk where we handle the bills and keep our records, but that’s about it. People come in looking for specific colors or materials, and we do our best to find them in the stacks. Sometimes it takes a bit of digging to find the right roll. We aren't a big department store with bright lights. It’s just a traditional market shop. We know the other shopkeepers around us and we often share a tea in the afternoons when the crowd thins out. It’s a lot of lifting and moving heavy rolls around every day. My back usually aches by the time we close, but it’s good, honest work. We don't really do any advertising at all. The regulars know where we are and new people just stumble in while they’re walking through. It’s a simple way of doing things.
