S K Saloon

Our shop, S K Saloon, is down on the lower ground floor, LG-2, of the Princess Residensi Plaza in Vijay Nagar. Indore is growing fast, and this health and education sector is always full of students and office workers. Being in the basement or lower ground means it stays a little cooler than the street level, which is nice when the sun is out. The plaza is a big building, and we have our own little corner there. We’ve got a couple of stations set up with mirrors and drawers for our tools. Everything is kept in its place—brushes, combs, and the different blades we use. We don’t have a lot of extra space, but it’s enough for a few people to wait. There’s a distinct smell of aftershave and hair tonic that hangs in the air. The lighting is fluorescent, which makes it easy to see every detail while we work. We see a lot of young guys from the colleges nearby who want something modern, and also older men who just want a clean shave. We keep a broom handy to stay on top of the mess. It’s a decent place to work, and the people in the plaza are friendly. We just open up, do the work, and close when the day is done. It’s honest work and we try to keep a steady hand.
