We are based out of the industrial area on Sapna Sangeeta Road. Dealing in spices means our whole area usually has a very strong scent of turmeric, chili, and cumin hanging in the air. Piyush Spices isn't a large corporate factory; it is more of a local operation where we process and pack things. The industrial area can be quite dusty, but we keep our internal space as clean as we can because of the nature of the food items. The machines we use for grinding can be quite loud, so we often have to shout to be heard over them. It is hard work, especially during the harvest seasons when we get huge bags of raw spices delivered. We spend a lot of time checking the seeds and powders to make sure they look and smell right. My brothers and I run the place and we usually stay late into the evening to finish the packing for the next day's orders. The road outside is always busy with tempos and trucks, which makes loading sometimes a bit of a struggle. We don't have a fancy showroom, just a functional space with heaps of bags and weighing scales. It is a messy job sometimes with all the spice dust, but we are used to the work we do here on Sapna Sangeeta Road. The spice smell stays on our clothes long after we go home.
