We are based out of the Machal area, which isn't too far from Indore. Most of the work for Machaldhara Farmers Producer Company Limited happens at Prakash Chandra’s place. We started this whole thing because farming on your own is getting more difficult every single year. There is a small group of us who decided to put our heads together and see if we could make things work better. Some days are good, but other days the market prices are just a total mess. We handle the local crops that grow in this soil. You won't find any glossy brochures or fancy advertisements here. We just get to work early and stay late. The address listed is basically where we meet up to talk about what fertilizer to buy or how the wheat looks this week. It’s a lot of back and forth between the different farms. Indore is growing really fast these days, but out here in the village, it’s still mostly about the dirt and the rain. We spend our mornings checking the different patches and the afternoons trying to organize some kind of transport for the harvest. It’s messy and loud sometimes. We might forget to file a form on time or the phone lines might stop working, but the actual work gets done eventually. We aren’t a big corporation. We are just neighbors trying to stay afloat and keep our fields as green as possible. That is about all there is to it.
