At Indore Crain Contactor, we operate out of Sunil Motors, which is right opposite the Essar Petrol Pump on Dewas Naka. If you are driving along A. B. Road, you can't really miss the big cranes parked in the lot. It’s a gravel yard, so it gets pretty muddy when it rains, and we spend a lot of time washing the grease off the equipment. We have a small shed where we keep the heavy chains and the tools for maintenance. The noise from A. B. Road is constant, with trucks zooming past at all hours. We spend most of our time out on job sites, so the office is often empty except for one person answering the phone. It’s a tough job that involves a lot of heavy lifting and early mornings. We have to be careful with the machines because they are expensive and we need them to stay in good shape for the next lift. Sometimes we are out all night on a project, and then we come back to the yard and sleep in the back of the pickup for a few hours. The petrol pump across the way is where we get most of our coffee and snacks. It’s a simple life of cables, gears, and diesel engines. We don’t have any fancy suits here, just oil-stained jeans and heavy-duty boots. We’ve been at this spot for a long time and have seen the road change quite a bit as the city grew.
