We’re based out in Atawadabetma, which is on the outskirts of Indore. Our office is set up at Makhan Singh Ray Singh’s place. It’s a good location for us because it’s close enough to the city for supplies but right in the heart of the farming area. We’ve got a lot of farmers who are part of this sangathan, and we all try to look out for each other. Being in Madhya Pradesh, we deal with a lot of different crops depending on the season. The work we do here is mostly about organizing the local farmers so we can get better prices for what we produce. It’s a lot of talking, a lot of meetings, and a lot of tracking the markets. We aren’t polished professionals; we’re people who know what it’s like to work in the heat all day. The office usually has a few people sitting around discussing the latest news or waiting for a delivery. We try to keep things simple. If there’s a problem with the harvest or someone needs help with their registration, they come here. It’s not a corporate environment at all. It’s more like a community hub where things actually get done. We don't spend money on fancy signs or advertising. We just focus on the day-to-day needs of the people in Atawadabetma. It’s hard work, but it’s necessary for us to keep going as a group and survive the tough years together.
