We run Y2K Home Appliances out of Nagole. It’s a busy neighborhood and we’ve been here long enough that the name Y2K doesn't seem as dated as it might to someone from outside. When we started, everyone was talking about the turn of the century, and the name just stuck with us. Our shop is where we keep all the fridges, washing machines, and smaller stuff like mixers and irons. It’s a bit of a squeeze sometimes because appliances take up a lot of room. We spend a good chunk of our day on the phone coordinating with delivery drivers or trying to explain to someone how to reset their microwave. It’s not glamorous work, and the shop floor is usually covered with cardboard scraps and packing tape. We don’t have a fancy website or a marketing department. If you need a new stove, you just come in and talk to us. We’ve seen Nagole grow a lot over the years, with more houses and apartments popping up everywhere. This means more people needing things for their kitchens and laundries. We try to keep the shop open late enough for people coming back from work. It’s just a regular local business, nothing more and nothing less. We drink a lot of coffee, move a lot of heavy boxes, and hope the electricity doesn't go out during a busy shift. That’s pretty much the whole story for us here in the shop.
