Meenakshi Exports And Imports is run out of apartment 403 on the fourth floor of Krishna Kunj Apartments. Being in Dwarakanagar means we are right in the middle of a lot of residential and commercial activity. Since it's an apartment building, it doesn't really feel like a typical corporate office environment. We have desks set up in what used to be the main living room. Most of our day is spent handling the endless paperwork for shipments going out or coming in from overseas. There are lots of forms and customs stuff that takes a long time to sort through correctly. We deal with different time zones, so sometimes we are in the office quite late at night or very early in the morning. The kitchen area is where we usually make our tea and talk about the day’s tasks. It’s a small team, mainly just family and a couple of helpers we've had for years. We have files stacked up against the walls because there's never enough shelf space for everything. Dwarakanagar can be noisy with the traffic and the shops downstairs, but we’re high enough up that it’s not too bad for us. We don't do much marketing; people usually find us through word of mouth or old business contacts. Sometimes the internet goes out and we just have to wait around. We just try to get the goods moved without any trouble.
