Vishwakarma Engineer Works

You can find us over at unit 37 in the Shree Swaminarayan Industrial Estate. We are right behind the Anil Starch Mill in Bapunagar, which is a landmark most people in this part of town know. The noise from the mill is constant, but we barely notice it anymore because our own machines are usually louder. At Vishwakarma Engineer Works, we do a lot of metal cutting and basic fabrication. It’s dirty work. Your hands stay black with grease for most of the week and no amount of soap really gets it all off. We have a couple of lathes and some welding equipment that we’ve had for years. They are old but they still run straight if you treat them right. My brother and a few cousins help run the shop floor. We don’t have an HR department or anything like that, we just talk over tea in the mornings about what needs to be welded or turned that day. Bapunagar is a busy place, always full of scrap dealers and lorries. Sometimes we have to wait a few days for the right steel to arrive, so we spend that time cleaning the tools or fixing the roof when it leaks during the monsoon. It is just a regular workshop. We do the work that comes in, keep the machines oiled, and try to keep our customers satisfied without making a big fuss about it. We just let the work speak for itself.
