Sri Sai Lakshmi Engineering Works

You’ll find us over at Plot 26 in Phase IV of the Ida in Cherlapally. It’s a proper industrial zone, so it’s always loud with the sound of grinding and welding. We’ve been in this spot for a good while. The workshop isn’t the cleanest place, what with the oil and the metal shavings, but that’s just how it goes in engineering. We mostly have the shutters up all day to let the air in. It gets really hot in the summer under the tin roof. Our crew is local, mostly guys who have been doing this for years. We aren’t some big multinational corporation. We just take the orders that come in, whether they’re big or small. Sometimes we’re working late into the night to finish a batch. The tea stall at the corner is basically our second office. We don’t have much in the way of a front office, usually just a desk in the corner of the shop where the ledger stays. It’s hard work and your hands get dirty within the first ten minutes of the shift. But we like the routine. It’s satisfying to see a finished part go out the door after a long day of work. Cherlapally is a busy place, and we’re just glad to be a part of it. The guys usually bring their lunch from home and eat together near the main machine. It's just easier that way than going out.
