Sri Gurudev Engineering

Sri Gurudev Engineering is based at 24-729/3 in Panchasheela Colony. We are right near Gandhi Nagar in the Quthbullapur Mandal area of Balanagar. This is a workshop where we handle all sorts of engineering and metal tasks. The floor is usually covered in metal shavings and the air smells like oil and welding, which is exactly how a workshop should be. We’ve been in this part of Balanagar for a long time and have seen many other shops come and go. It’s a tough business because the machines are old and sometimes they need more fixing than the actual jobs we are doing. But we know these machines inside out. We don’t have a secretary or a reception area. If you want to talk to us, you have to come back to where the noise is and shout a bit over the sound of the lathes. Most of our work comes from local factories that need parts repaired or small batches of things made. It’s a hands-on life and our clothes are always stained with something by lunchtime. We don't use any fancy computer programs for our designs; we mostly just sketch things out on scraps of paper or directly onto the metal. It’s about being practical and getting the job done so the customer can get back to their own work. It’s an honest way to spend the day for us workers.
