Sri Chandamma Precision Engineering Works

Down on Road No 7 in Shobana Colony, you will find our workshop. We are at 2-110/3, right in the heart of the Balanagar industrial area. It is a place where the air always smells like cutting oil and the sound of metal hitting metal is constant. We have several lathe machines and grinders that have been with us for years. They are heavy, greasy things, but they still work perfectly for the precision jobs we do. Most days, we are covered in dark oil stains and metal shavings that seem to get everywhere, even into our shoes. We take on all kinds of small engineering jobs that require a steady hand and a lot of patience. There is no air conditioning here, just big industrial fans that try their best to keep the heat down during the summer months. We don't spend money on fancy signs or a reception area because our work happens at the benches. We have a small corner with a table where we keep our blueprints and a teapot that is almost always full. People from other shops in Balanagar often drop by to borrow a tool or ask for advice on a tricky part. It is a community of makers and fixers, and we are just happy to be a part of it, doing the hard work that needs to be done every day.
