Shivashakti Engineering Works

Shivashakti Engineering Works is located at H No 9-199 in Sanjeev Gandhi Nagar. This is part of the Shapurnagar IDA, so it is a very industrial kind of neighborhood. My hands are almost always black from the grease and the metal dust. We have a lot of tools scattered around the workshop, from welding machines to grinders. The sound of metal hitting metal is what you hear all day long. It gets loud and the sparks fly whenever we are cutting through a big piece of iron. It is a small shop, but we pack a lot into it. There are usually pieces of half-finished projects leaning against the walls. Neighbors from other units in the IDA come by to borrow a tool or ask for a quick weld. We don't have a receptionist or a proper office space. If you want to talk, you just have to shout over the noise of the machines. The floor is stained with oil and there is a heavy workbench that has seen many years of hard use. I wear old clothes because they just get ruined anyway. It is honest work and it keeps us busy from the time we open the gate in the morning. When it rains, the sound on the metal roof is so loud we can't hear anything else. We just keep our heads down and get the repairs done for whoever walks through the gate.
