Royal Confectionary & General Store

Royal Confectionary & General Store is over on Attapur Road in Hyderabad. We are at shop 4-7-104, right across from the lane that leads to Mallikarjuna Temple. Having the temple nearby means we get a lot of people walking past, especially on festival days or weekends. I carry a mix of things, sweets and snacks mostly, but also the regular general store items like pulses and oils. It’s a busy little spot in Shivaji Nagar. I find myself constantly restocking the candy jars because the kids from the neighborhood are always coming in with a few coins. The shop isn't very large so I have to be careful about how I stack the boxes or I might trip over them. Sometimes I lose track of time chatting with the regulars who stop by for a bottle of water. It’s a bit loud with the traffic on Attapur Road but you get used to it after a few months. I handle everything myself from opening the shutters to locking up at night. It’s honest work and it keeps me busy. I like being part of the daily life here in Hyderabad. People know they can just pop in if they forgot something for their kitchen. It’s just a normal shop trying to keep the shelves full and the customers happy with what they find. The lane outside gets busy but we just keep doing our thing every day.
