R P Road is always moving and shaking with activity. Our place, R M Trivedi & Sons, is at 7-2-637. It’s been in the family for a long time, passed down through the years. You can see it in the way the furniture is worn down and the way the files are organized in those old wooden cabinets that creak. We don't use much fancy technology here, just the basics to keep things running properly. It’s more about the handshakes and the face-to-face talk with people we know. We have customers who used to come in with their grandfathers, and now they bring their own kids along. It makes you feel old but also like you belong to the neighborhood. The shop floor is where most of the action happens. We’ve got some heavy equipment in the back that makes a loud racket when it’s running. We’ve learned to talk over it without even thinking about it. The lighting isn't the best in some corners, but we know where every single item is even if the power goes out. It’s a bit of a maze sometimes with all the stock we keep piled up. We don’t bother with big sales pitches or fancy brochures. People know what we have and they know we’ll give them a fair price. We close up the shop exactly at the same time every single day. Routine is important to us. It keeps everyone grounded. After we lock the doors, we usually tidy up.
