Our small office is tucked away in Secunderabad, and we have been handling structural engineering work from here for quite some time. It is a straightforward place with a couple of desks and a lot of technical manuals stacked up in the corner. We spend most of our hours looking at load calculations and checking if the steel reinforcements are placed where they should be in the drawings. It is not the most glamorous job, but it is necessary work for anyone trying to put up a building that stays standing. We do not have a big marketing team or a fancy reception area. Usually, it is just us answering the phone and trying to explain why a beam needs to be a certain size to a client who might not understand the math behind it. The traffic in this part of Hyderabad can be a bit of a headache, but we manage to get to the sites when we need to. Most of our day is spent staring at computer screens or measuring things on-site with a tape. We are not trying to be the biggest firm in town, just the one that gets the numbers right.
