Panchayati Raj Engineering Department

The Panchayati Raj Engineering Department operates out of D.No3-4-221, in a building called Prashant Nest. We are in Flat No.301, right near the Jain Mandir in Kacheguda, Hyderabad. Being on the third floor, we get a decent view of the busy streets below. This is a government engineering office, so it’s filled with stacks of files, old maps, and massive rolls of blueprints. The desks are old-fashioned wood, and the chairs have been here for years. It’s not a modern tech hub. It’s a place where real administrative work happens. We handle engineering plans for various rural projects. People are constantly coming in and out with documents to be signed or plans to be reviewed. The ceiling fans hum constantly to fight the Hyderabad heat. We have a lot of cupboards filled with project histories going back decades. Sometimes the lift in Prashant Nest gets stuck, so we end up walking the three flights of stairs quite often. It’s a very busy neighborhood, and you can always hear the bells from the Jain Mandir and the horns from the Kacheguda station area. We don't have any fancy decorations. Just some calendars on the wall and a few potted plants that someone forgets to water. We drink tea from the local vendor and work through the paperwork every day. It’s just a group of us trying to keep the engineering projects organized and moving forward for the state.
