Mukesh Kirana Store

Mukesh Kirana Store is right near Pillar No 179 in Attapur. It’s a landmark everyone knows, so we are pretty easy to spot. We’ve been here since before the flyover was even finished. The shop is full of sacks of rice, different kinds of dals, and all the household essentials. It’s a bit cramped inside because we try to stock everything our neighbors might need so they don’t have to go far. I spend most of my day behind the counter, weighing out sugar or flour and chatting with the people from the nearby apartments. It gets very dusty with all the traffic passing by the pillar, so I’m constantly wiping down the jars and the counter. We don’t have any fancy displays, just wooden shelves that have been here for twenty years. My brother helps with the heavy lifting when the grain trucks come in twice a week. We usually stay open late because there’s always someone who realizes they ran out of salt or matches at 9 PM. It’s a local business and we’ve seen kids grow up and start coming in to buy things for their own houses now. We just try to keep the prices fair and the quality of the grains good for everyone who trusts us. That's really all there is to our daily routine here.
