Junior Civil Engineer

B. Rajesh. Samatha Puri Colony. Plot 96/B. It is near New Nagole. I spend my time at the drafting table or out at various sites. The road 7 here is usually quiet in the mornings. There is a lot of paperwork involved. Sometimes the neighbors ask what I am looking at on the site maps. I have been here in Hyderabad for a while. My office isn't fancy, just a room with my computer and some measuring tapes. You see the colony gate from the window. The heat in Hyderabad gets tough in the afternoons. I try to get the measurements done early. Most of the work is just making sure the levels are right and the materials arrive. It is not like those big firms. I handle things personally. When people come by, they usually find me checking blueprints. It is a lot of small details. You have to be careful with the measurements or everything goes wrong later on the project. The colony is a good place to work from. There is a tea stall not too far away where I go sometimes to clear my head. Most of the jobs are around this part of the city. I keep my tools in the corner and the desk is usually covered in site photos. It is just me here most days. It gets the job done. I don't need a big staff to do the engineering work I do.
