Jonnada Balaji And Co has been a part of this noisy street for many years. We deal with wholesale trading, mostly bulk goods that other smaller shops in the region need. The shop is tall and very narrow, packed from the floor all the way to the ceiling with sacks and heavy boxes. It’s a bit of a maze once you step inside. We spend our days dealing with porters, truck drivers, and other shopkeepers. There’s always someone shouting for an order or asking about a bill. It’s loud and can get quite dusty, but that’s just the way things are in Tobacco Bazar. We don't have an air-conditioned office or anything like that. We just have a small, scarred wooden desk near the entrance where we keep our accounts and take payments. My father started this business, and now I’m running it with my brothers. We don't spend any money on fancy displays because our regular customers already know what we have in stock. It’s all about getting the goods in from the suppliers and getting them out to the retailers as fast as possible. We work long hours, especially on the big market days. It’s not an easy job, but it’s what we know how to do. We aren't trying to expand into a big company. We just want to keep the tradition going.
