At Shanthi Engineers Fabricators, our shop is at D-64, Phase-1, Ida. It’s a busy area and we have been here for a while now. The space is filled with welding machines, cutters, and pieces of steel waiting to be joined together. Fabricating things is mostly about patience and making sure the measurements are right before you start the fire. It’s bright and noisy most of the time. We wear our gear and get to it. Some of the projects are small, and others take up half the floor space at D-64. We don’t spend much time sitting around. There’s always a smell of burnt metal in the air, which you get used to after a week or two. Our staff knows their way around a torch and a grinder. We aren't interested in making things look more complicated than they are. If someone brings us a drawing, we look at it and figure out how to build it. It’s basic, honest work. The Ida Phase-1 area has a lot of similar units, so we often see our neighbors throughout the day. We share the same problems like power cuts or heavy rain leaking through the roof occasionally. We just fix what needs fixing and carry on with the fabrication work. It is a living and we take it one day at a time, making sure the welds are solid and the metal is straight.
