Highwaydesign Engineer

Down at Plot No 10 in the M&H Colony in Vanasthalipuram, we spend our days looking at drawings and plans. Highwaydesign Engineer is basically just a small team of us working on road layouts and technical stuff. It’s a quiet enough area in Hyderabad, which helps when you need to focus on calculations. We have a few desks set up and some old computers that still do the job. We don’t really have a big reception area or anything. People usually just drop by if they have a project they need us to look at. We’ve been in this spot for a bit, and we know the neighbors well. Designing highways isn't exactly exciting to everyone, but it keeps us busy. We go through a lot of paper and pens every week. Sometimes we’re out on-site, but mostly we are right here in the office. The heat in Hyderabad can be a bit much in the afternoons, so we have a small fan that we keep running. It’s nothing fancy, just a workspace where we try to get the designs right so the roads actually work. We don’t do big presentations with lots of slides. We just show the drawings and explain how the drainage or the curves are going to sit. It’s practical work. We’ve had some long nights when deadlines are close, but that’s just how engineering goes for us here. The work is steady and it keeps us occupied throughout the year.
