Famous Electrical Dry Cleaners

Malakpet is a place that stays busy from sunrise to way past dark. Our shop, Famous Electrical Dry Cleaners, is located at 16-10-58/59 right on Station Road. If you know the area, you know how loud the trains can be when they pull into the station nearby. We spend most of our day surrounded by the smell of fresh starch and the hiss of the steam irons. It gets pretty warm in here during the summer months but we have a couple of fans that keep the air moving. The floor is a bit uneven in the back where we keep the heavy machinery, but it has been that way since I started working here. Most of our customers are folks who live around the neighborhood or people who drop off their clothes on their way to the train. We try to keep things organized but sometimes the racks get really full, especially during wedding season or when the weather changes. Station Road has its own energy and we have become part of that over the years. We usually have the radio playing some old songs in the background to pass the time while we fold shirts. The front counter has some scratches on it from years of bags being pulled across, which just shows how much use it gets. It is a simple operation and we just focus on getting through the pile of laundry every day without much fuss.
