We are over at the Methodist Complex in Abids. It’s unit number 32, right across from Chermas. If you know Abids, you know how packed it gets with shoppers and street stalls every day. Citizen Watches is the name on our front. The complex is one of those older buildings with a lot of character and maybe a few cracks in the walls. We have glass cases filled with watches that we have to wipe down every single morning because of the dust. The street noise from outside never really stops, but you get used to it after a week or two. We do a lot of repairs here, sitting at the back with small tools and tiny screws that are easy to lose if you aren't careful. The floor is old stone and stays cool even when it’s hot outside. People come in to get their watch bands adjusted or to see if we can fix an old clock that belonged to their grandfather. It’s a practical kind of job. We don’t have fancy carpets or designer furniture in the shop. Just some sturdy counters and the tools we need to get the work done. Sometimes we stand at the door just to watch the crowd moving through Abids. It’s a steady life here in the middle of all that daily chaos.
