The Scrap Shop

The Scrap Shop is right opposite the Shop Stop in Begumpet. It is a busy little corner where people bring us all the stuff they do not want anymore. We have got piles of old newspapers, rusted iron rods, and plastic containers taking up most of the space. It is a bit of a messy business, to be honest. Our hands are usually dirty by the end of the day from sorting through everything. We use a big old weighing scale to see what everything is worth. It is interesting to see the things people throw away, sometimes it is just junk and other times it is old machinery that has seen better days. Begumpet is always moving fast, and we are right there in the middle of it, taking in the waste and getting it ready to be moved out again. We do not have any fancy signs or a clean storefront. It is just a place for scrap. The noise of the traffic is constant, and the heat can get pretty bad in the afternoons under the tin roof. We just keep sorting and stacking. Every day is different because you never know what someone is going to bring in on the back of their rickshaw. It is hard work, but it feels good to clear out the clutter from people’s houses and shops around here.
