Vaishnavi Gems & Jewels

We set up Vaishnavi Gems & Jewels inside the Peddigari Complex. If you go to the first floor, you’ll find us at number 15-8-327/21. Begum Bazar is always a bit chaotic, so it’s actually nice being one floor up away from the street level. It’s a bit quieter up here. We deal with all sorts of gems and finished jewelry pieces. Most of our day is spent looking through small packets or talking to people who walk in. The complex has been there a while and everyone knows everyone else. We have a small staff and we all do a bit of everything. One day I might be doing the books and the next I’m helping sort out a new batch of stones. We don't have a lot of fancy decorations. We just use what works. Some of the cabinets have been with us since the beginning. They’re sturdy and hold what they need to. People come to us when they need something specific for a wedding or a gift. We just show them what we have on hand. It’s not a complicated business. We try to keep things straightforward. If we have it, we show it. If we don’t, we say so. That’s how we like to run things. It’s been working out okay so far, and we don't see any reason to change how we do things now.
