Our place is right opposite Pillar 214 of the PVNR Flyover in Suleman Nagar. If you have ever driven through Rajendranagar, you’ve probably passed by us without even realizing it. We are at Plot No. 2 and 13 in Sy No 38/1. The smell of spices is the first thing you notice when you walk in the door. It gets into your clothes and your hair by the end of the shift. We spend a lot of time grinding and mixing things up. It’s noisy work because the machines are quite loud when they are running at full speed. The flyover outside is always packed with traffic, so there is a constant hum of cars and bikes in the background of our day. We are a small team and we mostly just talk about what needs to be packed and sent out next. Dealing with spices means you have to be careful about the air and the dust, so we are always cleaning something. It is not a very glamorous job, but it is what we know how to do. Sometimes the Hyderabad heat makes the spice smells even stronger, which can be a lot to handle some afternoons. We don't have a big office or a reception area. We just have the workspace where the real work happens. It is just a local business doing its thing near the flyover and we keep our heads down mostly.
