Anand Engineering Works

Our place is at Plot No. 30 in the East Part of Phase 2, Ida, Cherlapally. It is a basic engineering workshop where we handle a lot of fabrication and welding. You can almost always see sparks flying in one corner of the shop while someone else is using a grinder to smooth down a rough edge. It is a loud and dusty environment, but that is just the way we like to work. We have some heavy workbenches and older machines that have been with us since we started. Cherlapally is a massive industrial area, so it’s easy to get turned around if you aren’t familiar with the phase numbers. We usually take a break in the late afternoon for some tea when the tin roof makes the heat inside almost unbearable. We take on whatever work comes through the gate, whether it is a small repair job for a neighbor or a larger frame for a factory nearby. There are only a few of us here and we’ve worked together so long that we don’t need to say much to get the job done. We just put on our masks and get to work. It’s honest, physical labor that keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. Most of our day involves moving heavy iron parts around and making sure things are squared up properly before we weld them. It is just us doing our bit.
