If you walk down Netaji Subhas Road to number 114/1, you will find Roy Watch Co. We have been in this area for quite some time now. The street is always packed with people and vendors, so it’s a very lively place to be. Inside the shop, it’s a bit more focused. We have glass counters that have seen a lot of use over the years, filled with different types of watches and clocks. A lot of our day is spent looking through a magnifying glass at tiny gears and springs. It's quiet work compared to the noise outside. We don’t have a fancy showroom; it’s more of a practical space where we can fix things and talk to customers. Sometimes the floor is a bit uneven and the walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but it doesn't really affect how we work. We have a lot of tools scattered around the back counter because there is always something that needs to be taken apart. People bring in watches that have been in their families for years, and we do what we can with them. We don't make any big promises, we just take a look and tell them if it can be fixed or not. The tea seller from down the street comes by twice a day, and that’s usually when we take our only real breaks. It’s just a simple, old-fashioned watch shop on a busy Kolkata street.
