Lisa Handicrafts is tucked away in Vill-Panchalpara. We are right by Po. Jhorehat if you are trying to find the spot on a map. It is a small setup, nothing like those big manufacturing plants you see near the highways. We started this because there was not much else to do in the village and we knew how to make things. It is mostly just local hands doing the work. We use whatever space we have, sometimes working outside when the weather is nice. We do not have a fancy website or a big office. It is mostly just us, some tools, and the materials we get from nearby. Sometimes we run out of stuff and have to wait for the next delivery to come through the village. It can be slow going, but we do not mind the pace. We make things one by one. If something is not right, we just start over. People in the village often stop by to chat while we are working. It is a very informal place. We do not wear uniforms or have strict clock-in times, though we do work hard. It is just Lisa Handicrafts, a small operation in a small village, trying to keep the old ways of making things alive. We like it this way. It feels right to be working in Panchalpara where we grew up. We just take things one day at a time.
