Our place is inside the Bhimsain Hotel building on Rishi Bankim Chandra Road. It’s right there in Kadamtala, which stays busy pretty much all day long because of the Howrah bus stand nearby. If you are walking around the bus stand, you’ll probably see our spot. It’s a bit of an old building, but it works for us. We spend most of our time in the back making sure things are ready for the crowds. Since we are near the bus stand, we get all sorts of people coming through. Some are just passing through Howrah, others live right around the corner. It gets pretty loud outside with the buses and the people shouting, but inside we just keep to our work. We aren't trying to be the most modern place in West Bengal. We just want to stay open and keep things moving. The mornings are usually spent cleaning up and getting the first batch of stuff ready. By the time the afternoon hits, it’s usually a bit of a scramble to keep up. We have a few staff members who have been here for years. We know the shopkeepers nearby and the guys who work the buses. It’s a tight-knit little area even if it looks messy from the outside. We just do our thing and hope people find what they need when they step inside. It’s a lot of hours, but it’s our living.
