Jahir Hand Embroidery

We have been doing this for quite some time now over at Jahir Hand Embroidery. Our place is located in Mainan Dhaipur Joypur. It is not a very big operation, just a few of us working with needles and thread every day. The room where we work is often filled with bits of fabric and different colors of yarn. We sit on the floor mostly because that is how we have always done it. It is quiet work and you have to have a lot of patience. Sometimes your fingers get sore from the small needles, but you get used to it after a while. People from around Joypur bring us their clothes to add designs. We do not have any big machines or fancy technology. It is all done by hand, stitch by stitch. My father taught me how to do this when I was just a boy, and now I run things here in Mainan Dhaipur. We do not have a fancy shop front or big signs. Mostly, people just know we are here and come by when they need something done. It takes a lot of time to finish a single piece, so we are always busy. We just try to do a decent job so that the embroidery lasts a long time. It is a simple life and the work is steady enough for us. If you are looking for the shop, we are right there.
