Kisan Kraft

We are over at Shed No. 3 in the Vivekananda Industrial Estate. It’s in Balitikuri, right near the Sri Sai Matriculation Higher Secondary School. You can usually hear the kids playing during recess if you’re standing outside the shed. Being in an industrial estate means there’s always the sound of machinery or trucks idling nearby. It’s a dusty environment, but that’s expected. Kisan Kraft is basically a big warehouse with a small corner partitioned off for the office stuff. We have a lot of heavy equipment coming in and out. Most of the day is spent checking engines or sorting parts. The floor is concrete and usually has a few oil stains. We don’t mind. It’s a place for work, not for show. We have a couple of dogs that hang around the gate; they’re friendly enough if you have a biscuit. The commute out here can be a bit long depending on the traffic, but we’ve gotten used to it. We keep a big water cooler by the door because it gets stuffy inside the shed. Our neighbors in the other sheds are mostly good people, we help each other out with tools sometimes. It’s a straightforward way to make a living. We open up early and stay until the last truck is loaded. It’s a lot of physical labor, but it keeps us in shape and the bills paid.
