Maa Gayatri Public Heigh School

If you head down Abhowal Road in Bhunga, you’ll find us. Maa Gayatri Public High School has been part of this Hoshiarpur neighborhood for some time now. It’s a quiet enough area, mostly fields and small houses around us. The school itself is a simple place. We have the usual rows of classrooms and a small office where we handle the paperwork. Mornings are the busiest time, with kids arriving from the nearby villages, some on foot and others on old bicycles. The air is usually fresh, which is one good thing about being out here away from the big city. We don’t have fancy air conditioning or anything like that, just the ceiling fans that we hope keep working through the summer. Sometimes the cows from the nearby farm wander too close to the gate and we have to shoo them away. It’s a very local way of living. Our staff members are mostly from around Bhunga or Hoshiarpur, so we speak the same language as the parents. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything; we just open the doors every morning and do our jobs. The kids play out in the dirt during their break, and things get a bit messy, but that’s just how childhood is. We just try to keep the place tidy and the lessons going. There is always someone wanting to talk about their child's progress or some small repair needed in a room.
