About Doaba Public Sen. Sec. School – Education in Hoshiarpur
Our school is in Parowal, which is a small village near Garhshankar in the Hoshiarpur district. It is a bit of a drive from the main town, so it is much quieter here than in the big cities. We have a decent-sized building with a lot of open space around it. Being a public senior secondary school, we have students of all ages coming through the gate. Many of them come from the nearby farms and villages, sometimes walking quite a distance. The mornings are usually spent getting everyone into their classrooms and starting the lessons. We have a playground that is mostly grass and dirt, where the kids play football or just run around when the weather is nice. The staff room is a simple place with a few chairs and a table where we keep our lunch boxes and stacks of paper. We don't have any big marketing plans; we just rely on people knowing us in the area. The school has been around for many years, so we have seen many generations of the same families pass through these halls. We use old-fashioned registers to keep track of everyone. Sometimes the walls need a bit of a touch-up with paint, but we do what we can when the budget allows. The weather in Hoshiarpur can be quite varied, so we deal with the dust in the dry months and the mud when the monsoon arrives. It is a very grounded place.
