Hindmotor is a place with a lot of history because of the old car factory, but we’re over in Udayan Pally at number 38. Sarvashiva Organic Farm is where we put our time and energy. It’s a residential-feeling area, quite peaceful most of the time. We have a modest office space where we handle all the farm business. Since we’re in the 712233 postcode area, we're tucked away from the main noise. We aren't a massive corporate farm with thousands of acres. We started small and we stayed pretty local. Most of our days involve checking on the plants or talking to the people who help us out. We don't have a big staff, just a few dedicated people who don't mind getting their hands dirty. The office has a lot of notebooks and seed packets lying around. It feels lived-in. Sometimes the neighbors stop by for a chat over the fence. We don't do much in the way of fancy advertising. Word of mouth usually does the trick for us. It’s a simple life, really. We follow the seasons and try to make sure the soil is healthy. When the harvest comes, things get a bit hectic, but otherwise, it’s a steady rhythm here in Hooghly. We’re just a small farm trying to do things the right way. We spend a lot of time outside in the sun, so we're all pretty tanned. It's good work if you don't mind the sweat and the long hours.
