You can find us at the Supermarket on Chinsurah Station Road. It’s a busy spot, especially in the mornings when the trains are coming in and out. Krishna Chandra Mandal has his office here, and that is where East Hooghly Organic Farming Private Limited operates from. Being near the Hooghly station means there is always noise and people rushing around, but inside our space, we focus on the farming side of things. We aren't out in the fields every second of the day because there is a lot of paperwork and planning to do at the market location. We talk to local growers and figure out how to get things moved from the farms to the people who need them. The building isn't brand new, and the stairs are a bit narrow, but it works for what we need. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit, so we just sit by the window and wait it out. It is just a practical setup. We handle organic stuff, which means worrying about things like weather and natural fertilizers instead of just using chemicals to make things grow fast. It takes longer and it’s more work, but that is what we do. Chinsurah is a good place for this because of the history of the land here. We just try to stay busy and keep the operations running smoothly on a daily basis.
