R. K. T. Brick Field

R. K. T. Brick Field is out in the village of Goye. Our post office is Babnan and the nearest rail station is Belmuri. If you are coming from the city, it feels like a different world out here. We are under the Singur police station jurisdiction. The brick field itself is a large open area where we spend most of our daylight hours. It is hard, physical work and it is very dependent on the weather. If it rains too much, we have to stop everything. When the sun is out, we are working hard to get the clay set and the bricks fired. You can hear the trains passing by Belmuri station in the distance. It’s a sound we have grown very used to. The air out here in Goye is a bit fresher than the town, but near the kilns, it gets hot. We are a small team and everyone knows their job. There are no fancy titles or suits here. We wear old clothes that we don’t mind getting dirty. R. K. T. Brick Field is a local fixture. We’ve been part of this landscape for years. Most people who work with us live right in the village or the next one over. We just focus on the rhythm of the seasons and making sure we have enough stock for the local builders. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s what we know and we do it well.
