Majumder Foods

Out here in Hooghly, specifically in the Hindmotor area, we’ve been running Majumder Foods for a while. Our place is at 1, B. N. Das Road. It’s an old building, but it does the job. Most of the day is spent handling ingredients and making sure everything is stored the right way. It’s often quite noisy because of the machinery and the trucks coming through, but you get used to it. We aren't a big industrial factory with thousands of workers. It’s just a local team from around here. We know the people who supply us and the people who buy from us by name. There’s no corporate ladder or anything like that. We just work. Sometimes the rain makes the road a bit messy, but we still manage to get the deliveries out. We don’t go in for big marketing campaigns or anything. We just focus on what’s in the containers. The smell of the food being processed is something you never quite get out of your clothes. My father started this years ago, and we’ve just kept it going. It’s about being reliable. People expect their orders on time, and we do our best to make that happen. It’s a lot of standing on your feet and checking things over and over. It’s not fancy, but it’s our life. We’re just a small part of the community here on B. N. Das Road.
