We’ve been here at Sabarmati Apartment for quite a while now. It is tucked away in S. B. Ghoshlane in Srerampore. If you know the area, you know it gets busy during the day. Our office is in block A-2. Most of us here are locals from the Hooghly district. We spend our days dealing with paperwork and checking on cement supplies for the nearby sites. It’s not a fancy setup, just a regular workplace with desks, some old files, and a tea kettle that’s always on. The lane outside can be narrow, so parking is always a bit of a headache for visitors. We’ve seen the neighborhood change over the years. Some new shops opened up down the road, but the overall vibe of Srerampore stays the same. Working in West Bengal means dealing with the humidity, especially in the summer months. We usually keep the fans running full speed. People stop by to ask about stock or just to drop off documents. We don't have a big reception desk or anything. You just walk in and talk to whoever is free at the moment. It’s a straightforward way of doing things. We know most of the regulars by name. Sometimes the internet acts up, but we manage. It’s just us doing our jobs in this corner of the town, making sure the cement gets where it needs to go.
