Our permanent address is at 16/B/13 S.C. Ghosh Lane in Serampore, which is in the Hooghly district of West Bengal. We’ve been based in this lane for quite some time now. Serampore has that old-town feel, and our office fits right into that. It’s a bit tucked away, but it’s where all the real work for the cement business happens. We don’t have a big corporate headquarters vibe here. Instead, it’s a place where we sit down with a cup of tea and go through the manifests and order forms. The lane can be narrow, and it has its own rhythm with neighbors and small shops all around. We handle the local distribution and management for Ambuja Cements from this spot. It’s a practical environment. We don’t spend money on fancy decorations or expensive furniture. We just have what is necessary to manage the shipments and talk to the customers. Sometimes the humidity is a bit much, but we are used to it by now. We try to be helpful and straightforward with everyone who comes through the door. There isn't any promotional talk or polished sales pitches here. We just tell people what we have and when it can get to them. It’s a very local, grounded way of operating, and it suits the character of Serampore perfectly. We just keep our heads down and do the work, making sure the bags get moved on time.
