Being in Prem Nagar means we see the same friendly faces every single morning. It's a small place here at number 107 and we like it that way. Hissar gets very hot in May and June so we keep the fans running all day for the little ones. Kindergarten is mostly about making sure nobody cries too much and everyone learns how to share the toys. We have colorful mats spread out on the floor for them to sit on. The kids usually arrive around 8 or 9 depending on when their parents can drop them off on their way to work. We do a lot of singing and messy drawing. My own desk is usually covered in crayon drawings that the students gave me throughout the week. Sometimes we have a little nap time in the afternoon if they get too cranky or tired. The building is just a regular house that we converted into a school space. It feels more like a home than a big institution. We have a small black gate out front. Parents stand there at noon waiting to pick them up and chat. You can hear the laughter from down the street when it’s playtime in the backyard. We go through so many boxes of tissues and small band-aids. It’s messy and loud and tiring but that’s just how it is with four-year-olds. We don't have a big fancy campus, just a few rooms filled with books and blocks.
